The All-Round Solution for Evacuation

ProzessgrafikEN

The evacuation of a building, floor or area can be necessary for many reasons: Fire, industrial accidents involving toxic substances, power failure, environmental incidents or bomb threats. To protect people, it is crucial that the evacuation is quick, orderly and complete – in the shortest possible alert and response time.

Event

The evacuation alarm via s.GUARD can be triggered in various ways such as via the app by authorised persons. For mass notification of staff, you can use multi messaging with the various channels such as telephone (mobile phone, DECT, landline), mobile app, desktop software for PC and Mac, SMS, loudspeaker, e-mail or pager.

If employees are in another branch for meetings, s.GUARD can detect this in several ways: by means of indoor and outdoor positioning and/or geofencing. If visitors and/or customers are occasionally in the building, there are various options for integrating them into the alarm system: Via the GUARD app using a temporary guest login or via SMS and telephone.

Alarm Management

With the help of a comparison with the staff system, the data in the alerting platform is always up-to-date. This not only eliminates unnecessary administrative work – no one is forgotten. Thanks to defined scenarios, employees can be automatically and specifically alerted in the event of an evacuation. If, for example, your employees are in another branch for meetings, s.GUARD can detect this via indoor and outdoor positioning or via geofencing. Visitors or customers who are in the building can also be integrated into the alarm system.

Transmission

You can reach the responsible persons or agencies such as the security officer or the evacuation team as well as the employees to be evacuated on all devices and channels – simultaneously or also in a staggered manner. By call (mobile phone, DECT, landline), alarm app, desktop software for PC and Mac, loudspeaker, SMS, e-mail or pager. Preferred communication channels can be set per person. Alarms can be acknowledged, for example, to mobilise specific functionaries in a targeted manner via escalation.

When alerting via app to the mobile phone or PC, images such as the escape and rescue plan can be sent in addition to instructions and checklists.

In addition to the staff in the building, blue-light organisations and, if necessary, the crisis team can be alerted immediately and automatically.

Intervention

During the evacuation, the evacuation team can exchange information quickly and easily using the s.GUARD app – the team is supported by the integrated chat module with voice, image and text. It is also very easy for individual participants or the whole team to coordinate the event by telephone or conference call. With the help of collaborative checklists, tasks are quickly assigned to the persons involved.

Document management

The document management system, which is encrypted and available offline on the computers and smartphones, provides direct and completely independent access to all necessary emergency documents. This includes evacuation and building instructions as well as information for reoccupying the building.

Check lists

In predefined scenarios, tasks can be assigned to specific persons / teams based on freely definable checklists (individual or also collaborative). The responsible persons can thus efficiently plan and coordinate measures and thus process emergencies systematically and in an orderly manner.

The control by a collection point or group manager can, for example, be carried out via an integrated checklist.

Logging (Live Logs, Status)

All communication is saved online with the status (sent, received, acknowledged) and the message. In addition, changes in the checklists (“done” / “in progress”) and the document repository are logged continuously.

Post-Processing

Once the evacuation has been completed, the threat situation has been clarified and the staff have returned to the workplace, the user can evaluate the activities. s.GUARD logs the alarm triggering and alarm reception of each participant in detail and to the second, plus the resulting communication. In addition, you can analyse the documentation in a targeted manner in order to improve processes in future threat situations.

Your Advantages during Evacuation

You get the assurance of being able to reach all your staff and guests in an emergency.

Coordination and communication support: Various tools such as telephone conferencing, group chat and checklists are available to your emergency organisation during the evacuation.

FAQ – The Most Frequently Asked Questions about Our Evacuation Alarm

How can technical systems (e.g. fire alarm system) and sensors (e.g. smoke detectors) be integrated into s.GUARD?

s.GUARD supports more than 100 interface protocols (ESPA 4.4.4, BACnet, ModBus, etc.) and enables fast and cost-effective connection to existing technical systems. With instaGUARD it is possible to install “emergency hand buttons, temperature sensors, motion sensors and much more”, even retrospectively and without extensive cabling, thanks to the extensive integration of a wide range of radio protocols (LoRa, WAN, Zigbee and many more).

Due to the continuous function check, a trouble-free operation can be guaranteed at any time. Should the connection ever break down or the battery level reach a critical level, this status can also be sent via a freely definable alarm procedure.

How are members of the emergency organization informed about the critical event?

s.GUARD’s evacuation alarm offers you the possibility of reaching e.g. safety officers, evacuation managers, crisis management team members etc. on various channels (app, SMS, e-mail, voice, pager, siren, light, loudspeaker etc.) (simultaneously, staggered or as part of a regular escalation). In addition, an app on the mobile phone and client software for PC and Mac are also available.

“Who” should be contacted during critical events “How” via which “channel” is defined by your emergency concept. s.GUARD enables you to map almost any process that an alerting procedure or mobilization plan requires. You have the concept – we have the technical solution!

How is it ensured that all the employees who are in the building are alerted?

The channels provided (app, SMS, e-mail, voice, PC desktop, pager, siren, light, loudspeaker, screens, etc.) enable both staff members registered in the system and guests not registered to be alerted. In the case of persons registered by the system, an alarm confirmation can provide information about the employees actually reached.

In addition, s.GUARD offers the possibility of obtaining a central overview of all employees who are in the building in the event of an incident via localization. An evacuation alarm can be sent to precisely these persons.
The control can also be carried out by means of an integrated checklist (employee list), which is automatically sent to the person responsible for the evacuation or meeting place in the event of an evacuation. The processed checklist is logged and added to the automatic documentation of the corresponding event.

How can visitors be alerted in an emergency?

If there are occasional visitors in the building, there are various possibilities to integrate them into your alarm system: on the one hand acoustically via siren or loudspeaker, on the other hand visually via screen or warning light.

Of course, the s.GUARD app can also be downloaded from the Appstore or Google Play within seconds (and made available to visitors temporarily via a guest login), but you can also provide your visitors with a Smartwatch with the pre-installed app. In this case, in case of evacuation, your guests can also be informed about the situation via app, SMS and telephone.

What happens if the employee has muted his/her phone?

With the help of the s.GUARD application, it is possible to alert employees loudly to an emergency – independent of the “silent” or “do not disturb” settings on the Android or iOS smartphone.

Furthermore s.GUARD offers you the possibility to reach people on different devices and channels (app, SMS, e-mail, voice, radio) (simultaneously, staggered or as part of a proper escalation). If the employee has switched off his mobile phone completely, you can reach him e.g. with the app on the computer or a call alert on his DECT phone.

Thanks to the high redundancy of devices and channels and the escalation options, you have a very high degree of certainty that your employees will receive help as quickly as possible.

How many people can be alerted simultaneously with s.GUARD?

Based on continuous load tests, we can ensure that approx. 300,000 users can be alerted within one hour via the s.GUARD application.

If this load limit is not sufficient for your intended use, we can multiply these values and adapt them to your requirements within a very short time by using dedicated hardware.

In addition, in the s.GUARD basic version, 36,000 SMS per hour (10 SMS per second) can be sent and 3,600 calls per hour (1 call per second) can be established. The capacities of the basic version can be optionally expanded as required.

What happens if the company's internal IT fails? Is the alerting and communication via s.GUARD still guaranteed?

s.GUARD as a cloud solution is by definition independent of your internal infrastructure and can therefore still be used in the event of a total failure. The mobile phone technology provides an independent communication space for alarm triggering to use the company independent channels. via 3G / 4G / pager / SMS and call.

The document management system, which is encrypted and available offline directly on the computers & smartphones, offers you direct and completely independent access to all necessary emergency numbers and emergency documents in case of an emergency.
The freely configurable checklists (individual or even collaborative) can also be used regardless of the state of your IT and help the emergency teams to coordinate measures and thus to process emergencies in a systematic and orderly manner.

How are the alarms and actions recorded?

s.GUARD logs in detail and to the second the alarm triggering and alarm reception of each station, as well as the communication resulting from the alarm. The actions of the crisis team members can be tracked via checklists, both in terms of content, e.g. drop-down replies, and by means of time stamps. The documentation of the results can then be analysed in terms of “lessons learnd” and any improvements can be incorporated into the workflow processes.
