Swissphone expands its range of services in the area of “Critical Incident Management” through the acquisition of instaSOLUTION AG, Pascal Jaggi becomes new CEO.
After 50 years, the Köchler family sells its shares in Swissphone. The company is taken over by members of the management of Swissphone Wireless AG and renowned entrepreneurs from Germany and Switzerland as part of a succession plan. In 2019, the Swissphone Group celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Angelo Walter Saccoccia takes over as head of Swissphone. In the same year, the practical s.QUAD is launched on the market: functional, powerful and waterproof.
In 2014, the Austrian subsidiary Swissphone Austria GmbH is certified according to ISO 9001:2008.
In 2011, Swissphone starts to build up the alerting network in South Tyrol: for this purpose, a digital alerting system with two monitoring and control stations is set up and 54 POCSAG base stations and nine transmitter units are installed. The Multimaster network is set up in the regions of Celle and Soltau: 100 DAUs in Celle, 73 DAUs in Soltau and the IDEATM encryption are installed, long-term maintenance contracts are concluded
After the Hurricane Voice (2002), Swissphone develops another world first in 2010: the HURRICANE DUO is the first message receiver that can read out and display text at the same time. In addition, the HURRICANE DUO is the first to meet all BOS approvals: DME I, DME II and DME III. In the same year, the customer Astrid chooses Swissphone as a reliable partner for pagers.
With Swissphone LLC, the sixth subsidiary of the Swissphone Group is founded in Windsor (USA) in 2006.
In 2008, the Swissphone Group made three major advances at once: With the RES.Q, Swissphone is developing the first all-in-one alerting terminal that combines paging with GSM and GPS. This year, Swissphone also receives certification according to ISO standard 9001:2008. Furthermore, the company wins the 2008 Innovation Award of the European Mobile Messaging Association EMMA.
In 2005, a digital and satellite-based alerting network is successfully put into operation in Lower Austria.
The next takeover follows just one year later: Wesser Informatik GmbH, one of the leading providers of system solutions for control centres, becomes Swissphone Systems GmbH, based in Stuttgart (DE).
Swissphone takes over All Wireless AG in Bern (CH) and henceforth operates under the name Swissphone Wireless AG, which the company still bears today. With the takeover, Swissphone is in possession of the national paging networks and thus has a state mandate.
In 2002, Swissphone develops a world first: the Hurricane Voice is the world’s first digital voice receiver that converts text to speech.
In 1999, Swissphone Austria GmbH, located in Vienna (AUT), joined the Swissphone Group .
The Federal Office of Communications issues Swissphone the first private licence for the area of “own radio networks in Switzerland”.
Only two years after the certification, the accreditation as the first non-governmental testing body for portable, mobile and fixed transmitting and receiving equipment as well as portable receiving equipment follows. Another success and quality indicator for the company.

The company Swissphone is founded in 1969 by the married couple Erika and Helmut Köchler. The company is based in Kloten at this time and will later be based in Samstagern near Zurich (CH).
